I did not expect to see this wonderful example of art deco on the hood of a truck.  But it certainly did catch my eye!  🙂

  1. Reminds me of the chrome swan hood ornament on our family Packard when I was a kid…. no blue wings though. I had a hood ornament on my first car, a wonderful old Mercedes sedan, ca. 1955, and someone stole the ornament that was attached by a spring. Guess theft was quite common, I later learned.

    1. I wonder if other car owners had the same experience as you did. Could explain why not many cars come with neat hood ornaments anymore. A custom job, like this one had to be, was sure fun to look at. I hope they fare better! 🙂

      1. The one you photographed looks attached by screws. Smart. Mine was attached by heavy spring to bend, not break, if something hit it or heavy snowfall… but easy to pull off. Many were stolen. Wish I still had that car. Red leather seats, teak dashboard, moon roof. Sigh.
